MUSEUM FUR TRADE TOUR
Content ~ This follow-up visit to the museum consists of 3 stations:
- A guided tour of the native and fur trade exhibits reinforces and extends the classroom presentation, “The Fur Trade ~ Canada & New Caledonia. Students will study other items of significance to the fur trade including a Hudson Bay Co. trade rifle, items made with trade beads, a Coureur de Bois sash, a beaver top hat, a pack saddle, snowshoes, and samples of dried fish and native berries.
- A museum volunteer will share information on how the trading process took place. In addition, students will have an opportunity to play a trading game.
- A self-discovery activity using maps of early explorers.
This tour has been designed to reinforce and expand on the information presented in the classroom.

Length ~ Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes
Grade level ~ Grades 4 & 5
School to provide ~ at least 3 adults to assist with supervision.
