THE IMPOSSIBLE RAILWAY: THE CPR
Content ~ In this PowerPoint presentation of the history of the Canadian Pacific Railway, the problems of building the railway will be described. The difficulties of the line through the Fraser Canyon, the Rocky Mountains and the Selkirks will be emphasized. Challenges of operating the railway in the mountains, the railway’s effect on settlement on the prairies, the development of the tourist industry in the Rockies and the impact of the railway on the growth of the Okanagan and the city of Vernon will also be discussed. The presentation will conclude by showing some of the changes in railroading that have taken place in the last 125 years along with some railway memorabilia.
