SCHOOL PROGRAMS
The Education Department of the Greater Vernon Museum & Archives offers elementary and high school students a series of classroom presentations, museum tours, plus an historic walking tour of downtown Vernon focusing specifically on the early history of our area. These programs look at the lifestyles of the Interior Salish people, the history of the fur trade in Canada and especially in New Caledonia, and the early settlement and growth of Vernon.
Through the use of artifacts, photo images, and archival materials from the museum’s collections, these presentations help to bring our unique local history to life and add an extra dimension to related units of study within the British Columbia school curriculum.
